Wine Country

I’m back from the Michigan Grape and Wine Conference. It really was a great experience. I’ve mentioned my best friend before and you’ve seen her here on the blog from time to time, well we learned so much! I focused on more of what the wine  makers workshops were and she focused on the business end. Thankfully we did have a session together.

We headed up a day early so we could visit vineyards and just take in the beauty of Michigan wine country! If you’ve never been I’d urge you to visit. Michigan is surrounded by water and truly one of the most beautiful states.
We totally lucked out 60 degrees up north in February!!! Perfection! First stop was Chateau Chantal on Old Mission Peninsula. I sampled a really nice Malbec Rosé.

Of course I had to show you a quick look at my traveling day outfit. I ditched the moto jacket cause it was to WARM!! Loved the weather last week.

We met a friend for lunch at a great place in downtown Traverse City  before visiting another vineyard.

I could eat! Being gluten free isn’t always the easiest while traveling. It is really easy finding gf in Traverse City. Had the best street tacos!! Blurry pic cause I snapped it fast we were starving!!

We headed to the next stop ( hands down best stop! )

We met Robert Brengman, he gave us the best tour behind the scenes. We sampled right from the stainsteel barrels. Yum!!!!!! We tried around 7 varieties. They were delicious. He is such a great guy and took the time to show us around. You need to go visit The Brengman Brothers at Crain Hill Vineyard on the Leelanau Peninsula.

Sounds like a really fun trip, and gorgeous blue skies too! I’ve just signed up for a marathon near Bordeaux in September that has a wine and food stop every 5km! It could get very messy, especially as there’s oysters, cheese and cake on offer!
